Flash x Annie Litter - DOB December 20, 2007
7 - Males and 1- Female
Annie Had Her Puppies on December 20, 2007. She had 8 puppies: 7 boys and one girl. All are healthy and growing fast. At the end of their fifth day, the largest boy is already 26 ounces with other boys ranging from 20-25 ounces. Our little girl is 19 ounces and she is fast catching up to her brothers. She was only 8 1/2 ounces on day two when five of her brothers were already 17 ounces. The puppies all have great markings with rich mahogany color, their structure looks sound and they appear to be excellent examples of the Rottweiler breed. We're dead tired but hope to get a photo gallery and puppy diary started very soon.
We expect great puppies from this litter. They should have tremendous conformation potential and fabulous temperaments. The sire, Flash, is four years old and has been an extremely successful AKC conformation dog. He finished in the top 20 AKC Rottweilers nationally each of the past two years. Annie interrupted her promising show career to have puppies. On the October weekend she got pregnant she won Winner's Bitch at the ARC Specialty in Pleasanton, California with a five point major, beating 40 of the best class bitches currently competing. Annie has her Majors and only needs three single points to finish her championship. She plans to resume her show career after the puppies leave home and she regains her girlish figure.
In addition to their show talent, both Flash and Annie have wonderful dispositions. They are good with kids and other dogs. We hope their offspring inherit their great temperaments. Both parents come from premier Rottweiler lines as you can see from their Pedigrees (Flash's pedigree, Annie's pedigree). You can read more about the parents on Annie's Page and Flash's Page. You can also view the Puppies Pedigree.

We plan to place the puppies in their new homes when they are approximately 8 weeks old. We are primarily concerned that the pups go to excellent quality homes where they will be protected and nutured for their entire lives. Preference will be given to people who are already successful Rottweiler owners. New owners must be willing to adequately train their puppy, provide proper veterinary care, and provide a solid and safe home environment. The parents are well-loved pets and we expect no less for the puppies. For puppies with show potential we would like to find new owners who are willing to train and enter the puppies in sanctioned competitive events such as conformation, obedience, rally, Sieger, etc. If you are interested in owning one of these fine quality Rottweiler puppies please contact us:

The puppies went to their new homes when they were 8 weeks old. Here are pictures of each puppy with his/her new family. I took one puppy to San Francisco International Airport to meet his new Mom. He moved to Nebraska. Everybody looks very happy...

The puppies had really grown big by the time they were 8 weeks old and ready to go home. We took this picture of the whole litter and the two of us right before the first puppies left for their new homes. They were so big we could barely hold them all at once. We were sad to see them go but very happy to see the joy each brought to his new family. All the new owners were so happy and anxious to help their puppy get a start on the rest of his/her life. It was truly a joyous time.
We were very pleased with how this litter evaluated. Seven of the puppies went to show homes and we hope to see them in the conformation and other competition events as they grow up.
The puppies had a busy final week. At the beginning of the week they were tested to assess their individual temperaments. Then, at the end of the week they were evaluated to determine their conformation potential. We took lots of pictures and videos to study ever detail of each puppy. They also continued to grow - by week's end the largest puppy weighed 14 pounds.
The puppies are starting to look like little dogs at 6 weeks. You can get a measure of their size by looking at their feet compared to a couple of weeks ago.
|
The weather is finally nice enough that the puppies can spend the afternoon outdoors. They enjoyed their lunch in the sun.
The puppies are growing up as they reach 5 weeks of age.
|
Here's a shot of a puppy and Annie taken when the puppy was 32 days old. There's a family resemblence there...
After 4 weeks, the puppies are really growing. The largest is over 6 pounds. We have started weaning them onto real food although they still nurse with Annie several times a day.
The puppies are 4 weeks old today. We finally had a nice day with sun and warmer weather so we set up an x-pen on the deck and took them outdoors. They enjoyed the adventure and especially their picnic lunch...
The puppies got to try drinking from their new watering trough. There was a little sipping and a lot of wading.
Now that they are bigger the puppies can't wait for Mom to lay down before starting to eat. We've started feeding them "real" food but they still prefer what Mom has to offer. Annie just stands there a lets them feed. With the benefit of gravity, and their increased capacity, the nursing process takes very little time now.

Below are pictures of the puppies at 3 weeks old. All their eyes are open and they can see movement and light but don't have clear vision yet. They are all gaining weight at a steady pace. Today the largest was 61 ounces. Our little girl is the smallest at 48 ounces but she's adding about 10% to her body weight every two days so she just needs time to catch the boys.
Below are pictures of the puppies at 2 weeks old. We've added their collar colors to help identify them. The little girl is #8. As you can see, they've all now opened their eyes, some more than others. They are all taking tentative steps and a few now walk almost everytime they move around the whelping box.
The puppies live full-time in their whelping box. They explore it pretty thoroughly in the course of a day. When Mom enters they flock to her looking for another meal.
First Walk - This sequence of 4 shots shows one of the boys taking his first walk around the whelping box at 13 days old. He moves pretty nicely.
